\\#5 All Night Long;

Is this a young adult book or porn novel?

Rated: 3 out of 5 stars

Most Exciting Scene: Jessica’s day with Scott and his crew. It’s always fun to see Jessica out of her element. And it’s interesting to see people not of the SV cut, ones that drink and do drugs. Why are all the older kids portrayed as being so wild?

Most Ridiculous Scene:. Liz dressing up like Jessica, acting like herself to Todd and Enid but pretending to be Jess to Jess’s friends, and going to her own classes. Did Jessica’s friends not notice that she skipped every single one of her classes that day? Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see the logic in this at all.

Most Frustrating Scene: Todd and Liz’s fight. Todd is absolutely 100% RIGHT, yet he’s the one coming around to apologize. Liz didn’t apologize, and she’s the one that completely overreacted.

Most Upsetting Scene: Jessica’s behavior toward Liz through the whole damn book. When she’s lost in the woods she’s angry at Liz for not trying hard enough to stop her? When she comes back, she thanks Liz, doesn’t stop to even hear about how she did it, and just goes dancing off to cheerleading practice. She gets pissed because Liz failed her test and doesn’t even hear Liz out that she upset because her and Todd broke up. She just pisses me off.

Most Entertaining Scene: Ditto on the exciting one.

Favorite Character in the Book: Todd. For not being afraid to tell Liz what he thinks. Of course he screws it up by apologizing for being right, but still.

Least Favorite Character in the Book: Jessica. Surprise surprise. *hey, isn’t that a book title ^_-*

Additional comments: I don’t care for this book much. It’s all about Liz worrying herself stupid over a bad situation Jessica’s gotten herself into. I didn’t feel the least bit sorry for either of them. *Are we supposed to?* But on to more constructive comments.

The writing in this book is definitely a few steps up from the previous ones. It doesn’t drag nearly as much, if at all. The author’s really got a feel for the characters and timing now; or maybe it’s a different author. Whatever the case, it flowed much much better.

All in all, it was a good read but I hate the twins so it wasn’t for me. Yeah.

And I just thought to mention I have a lovely first edition copy of this book (hehe it’s older than me!). In it, it says the next book is #7 Dangerous Love. There are character profiles on Bill and Lila (Bill’s is later revealed in #8 but Lila’s is never mentioned again and it’s contradicted both by #95-98, and The Fowler’s of Sweet Valley). And in the back there’s an order form which includes #6 Dangerous Love, and #7 About Face, which tells you that Liz recovers from her motorcycle accident. Some suspense, huh?

Continuing on, I’ve been making little lists about the books as I’m reading through them, and I’ve decided to include some in this review.

First Words: The first words a character utters when they first appear in the series.

Scott Daniels - "Did I hear my name mentioned?"
Rod Shockley - "Here, Daniels. Looks like you need some cooling off."

And the NLN’s (No Last Names)

Erica - "You should have seen the look on my dorm mother’s face when she caught Bobby sneaking out of my room the other morning."
Greta - "Have you been seeing Scott for very long?"

Todd and Liz’s Big Fight #1

Todd: If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking, don’t, Liz. You can’t take that test for Jessica. That would be the same as cheating. I know you--you wouldn’t dream of cheating for yourself, so why do it for Jessica?
Liz: It wouldn’t really be cheating.
Todd: What would you call it?
Liz: Jess knows the answers. I’m sure she’d pass if she were here.
Todd: That’s just the point, don’t you see? She isn’t here. Come off it, Liz. When are you going to stop taking all the knocks for Jessica’s irresponsibility? Do you really think she’d do the same for you?
Liz: That’s unfair! You’re just saying that because you don’t like her. You never liked her.
Todd: I guess it should be obvious to you, of all people, why I’m not so crazy about your sister. In my opinoin Jessica cares more about herself than anyone else.
Liz: Who asked you for your opinion anyway?
Todd: Look, I was only trying to--
Liz: I know what you were trying to do! You were trying to turn me against my own sister! I never thought you’d stoop so low, Todd Wilkins.
Todd: I’m sorry you feel that way. I was only trying to help, Liz. But I guess you just aren’t interested in hearing the truth.
Liz: The truth is you’re just jealous because I’m doing something for Jessica.
Todd: Don’t be an idiot!
Liz: So now I’m an idiot on top of being a cheat? Well, you’re right about one thing. Only an idiot would go out with you!
Todd: I guess that means our date for Saturday is off.
Liz: I’d rather go swimming with Jaws!
Todd: Fine--If that’s the way you want it.
