\\#6 Dangerous Love;

Todd's really cute here ^_^

Rated: 4 out of 5 stars

Most Exciting Scene: I think it would be where Danny, while on a date with Jessica, bangs his car into Crunch McAllister’s purple van. Crunch, the resident drunken drop-out, is about to kill him when Todd comes along and saves the day by offering him a ride on his shiny bike. Todd is such a prince. ^_-

Most Frustrating Scene: Jessica asking Liz to ask Enid to hook her up with her cousin Brian for her 16th birthday party. It’s not so much that she asked but how she reasoned it out with Liz she was really doing her a favor by getting Enid back with George. And then Liz went and fed the same line to Enid. Her sister can really do no wrong in her eyes, can she?

Most Upsetting Scene: The Wakefield’s yelling at Todd. Sure, they have every right to be angry. But I felt really bad for poor Todd. It wasn’t his fault. Though I was kind of surprised he didn’t offer for Liz to wear his helmet. Then when they got in the accident Todd would’ve gone into a coma instead. Wouldn’t Dear Sister have been funny if Todd woke up thinking he was Jessica? ^_^

Most Entertaining Scene: Jessica and Todd at the hospital hovering over Liz’s comatose body; Jessica gives an Oscar-worthy speech about how she’s a horrible sister and when Liz wakes up things are going to be different. Yeah. Right. But it does give you a certain kind of insight in how she knows exactly what a horrible person she is, yet she continues right along to stay that way.

Most Ridiculous Scene: Nothing really, except the lovely promise Jessica makes to Todd that I’ve covered in most entertaining scene.

Favorite Character in the Book: Todd. Because Todd is cool. It was really nice of him to be willing to sell the bike for Liz. Of course Crunch ruined that.

Least Favorite Character in the Book: Jessica, Jessica, Jessica… Hell, I even like Crunch better than her.

Additional comments: The first book of the original mini-series. I really like this book. Liz’s reaction over the bike was very realistic and easy to relate to, if slightly annoying. I felt kind of bad for Todd. All his hard work to get the bike and even selling his car… All for naught.

Jessica vehemence about not wanting anything to do with motorcycles surprised me. She’s usually the first to rebel against her parents. I figured if a cute enough guy asked her if she’d like a ride she’d jump right on. Also, her little line to Liz also rather surprised me; "You can’t put it off, Liz. The more excuses you make to Todd, the more he’s going to think something’s wrong. He might as well know the truth now, before he starts to think it’s him you’re turned off to." She almost sounds like Liz there don’t you think? Then she goes off about how she doesn’t know why Liz would want anything to do with him anyway and how there are plenty of cute guys with cars.

And I’d like to give an honorable mention to how Winston and a Pi Beta Alpha named Mandy Farmer fed French fries to each other at the Dairi Burger. What happened to her?

Well, the book left off on a major cliffhanger. Jessica and Todd holding hands changing "Wake up, Liz." Oooh. Will she live or die? I wonder. ^_^

First Words

  • Danny Stauffer- "Hey. No damage done, right?"
  • Jerry "Crunch" McAllister - "Get out."
  • John Doherty - "I could’ve ended up with a lawsuit on my hands if it hadn’t been for you."
  • Brian - "Hey, what’s the matter?"
  • Bert Wilkins - "I think we’d better go now."

Stupid Trivia

  • The twins had a cousin, Rexy Wakefield, who was killed on his motorcycle after a head-on collision with a Station Wagon. Said cousin is never mentioned in The Wakefield’s of Sweet Valley, or the The Wakefield Legacy: The Untold Story.
  • Enid is actually the youngest student in the Junior class; she skipped a grade in elementary school.
  • Enid’s 16th birthday is held at the Country Club.
  • The Dairi Burger reopens, and it’s owned by two brothers named Doherty, one with the first name John.
  • There’s a bar called the Shady Lady across the street from the Dairi Burger.
  • Enid has a cousin named Brian.
  • Crunch McAllister is arrested.

And I’ll leave off with a special quote from Jessica:

"But I’ll tell you this, Todd. There are going to be some changes around here. The minute she wakes up, I’m going to start making up for all the rotten things I’ve done to her."

Let’s keep this in mind, shall we?
