\\#2 Say it to My Face;

A great follow-up to the wonderful Can’t Stay Away. Except for the boring Maria parts. Conner and Liz pine over each other as Liz continues to insert herself in all parts of Conner’s life. Mrs. Sandborn gets drunk. Tia becomes a main character and Angel is the sweetest boyfriend in the world. We get to hear more of Andy’s wisecracks. Will acts like a whipped puppy. Jessica Wakefield is a slut. is written on a chalkboard. Jessica’s not popular anymore (I love it). And Todd gets his two lines of fame, in telling Jess why she’s being called a slut, redeeming himself for every stupid, sappy thing he ever said and did in SVH. And I love it that he’s not pining away over Liz anymore and has finally moved on with his life. He deserves better, I just wish he were more of a main character. I also wish Lila was, too. This book gives you the impression she’s going to be in it more than she is. Enid’s already slipping away into the vast pool of invisible characters, and there are tons of others we haven’t even heard from. Maybe they all went off and joined the circus.

My favorite scene: My favorite scene, of course, is at the end where Todd tells Jessica why she’s a slut.

My favorite quote:

Todd: Well, Jess, I hate to be the one to say this to your face, but what do you expect?
Jessica: What do I expect?
Todd: Yeah. I mean, if you hit on one girl’s boyfriend and sleep with another guy in the same night, what do you think people are going to call you?
