Suzette Hargreaves

Cain's cousin and half-sister. Suzette's mother was put away in a mental institution when she was a small child. She was raised by her father and a step-mother who didn't seem overly fond of her. Her and Cain seemed to have some sort of friendship, as she knew where Cain's stash of poisons lay in his London home. She fell in love with a worthless flower shop owner who only wanted her money. When it became apparent her family would never allow them to marry he left her for dead and went on to pursue another rich woman. She murdered him in a planned lovers suicide, taking his life and her own with a poisoned kiss.

Suzette was always very carefree and sought to getting everything she wanted. She was very determined and ambitious girl who even in death held the satisfied smirk of having gotten vengeance on her lover. This aspect of her personality attracted Cain to her in their youth and he realized only after she was dead he was in love with her.

Augusta Hargreaves

Cain's real mother was the sister of his father. She went mad after Cain's birth, spending the last twelve years of her life rotting inside a mental ward, her children growing up without knowing her. It's unknown exactly what kind of woman she was in life, but I imagine she was much like her children. Willful, independent, and selfish

Dirk Ashley

A noble who lives in a secluded castle alone with his sister Justine. He was manipulated by his sister into sleeping with her and killing their (step?)father. He's tortured by her dual personality as her daytime persona knows nothing of what has transpired and is extremely protective of her. Cain sees so much of himself in Dirk he does everything in his power to save him. In the end Dirk refuses his help and decides for himself to die in a burning tower where his sister is trapped.

Justine Ashley

A troubled girl with two personalities, one very innocent and naive, the other a sultry seductress who believes she's a vampire and seduced her own brother. She made him kill their father whose last attempt to harm her burned her face beyond recognition. With the help of evil dark scientists they restore her looks at the cost of her having to drink the blood of young girls. Cain confronts her in the ancient tower of their castle and she realizes she's not two people, she's been Justine all along. Mentally shattered she stays in the burning tower calling for Cain to save her, even as her brother joins her and wraps his arms around her.

Gladys Merrill

She grew up in an orphanage and years after she's adopted by a wealthy family she's reunited with her childhood sweetheart and they are married. She finds the bloody weapon of a recent murder under her bed and suspects she may be the killer. Frustrated with her husband's flippant dismissal of her worries she attends a party intending to cheat on her husband and meet Cain. After going back to Cain's house with him instead of sleeping with him she instead confesses her fears. She finds out the murderer's been her husband all along and when she rejects him he commits suicide. Plagued by guilt she spends the rest of her life mourning her deceased husband.

Radcliff Merrill

Radcliff was a street urchin who was the only survivor of the Miss Pudding Tragedy. Afterwards he was put into an orphanage where he met Gladys and then adopted by a wealthy family. He was reunited with Gladys years later and they were married. Radcliff was sweet and a bit of clutz but loved his wife like crazy, to the extent he killed every link to his past that threatened to destroy his relationship. When he was a child he was drugged and dressed up like a girl by perverted men and was physically and mentally tortured, which resulted in him killing every male there. When Gladys finds out what he's done she denies his affections and with no other reason to live Radcliff kills himself.

Madeline Russell

A cousin of Cain whom he stayed with for a summer as a child. Madeline was a very spoiled child who was doted on by her father, leaving her sister Bibi, from her father's mistress, in the shadows. Maddy accidentally started a fire that consumed the Russell's most valued treasures and blamed it on Bibi. Her sister killed herself and Bibi's mother took her and used hypnosis to make her believe she was Bibi. Bibi's mother raised her to be a prostitute in a brothel and eventually sent her to kill her father. She met Cain again and he helped her to remember who she really was. In the end she did kill her father and he shot her before he died. She'd always loved Cain and pleaded with him to end it for her by killing her.

She was extremely spoiled and carefree as a child. As she grew older she learned to expect nothing, merely wondering what she had done to deserve what she got.

Beatrice Russell

Bibi was a very depressed child who was extremely envious of her more fortunate sister. She longed more than anything for her father's love and would cry in desperation. When their father came to them about the fire Maddy insister she didn't do it and Leland blamed it on Bibi. So distraught with his anger in her she killed herself, hanging herself from an oak tree. Her mother found her and switched her dress with Maddy's in order for her to buried with the Russell's.

Leland Russell

Madeline's creepy father who harbored a perverted desire to marry his daughter. He screwed around on his wife with prostitutes and was a horrible father. He was murdered by his daughter Madeline by being stabbed in the neck.

Bibi's Mother

Leland's demented mistress. After Bibi's death she craved only for revenge and got it by turning Leland's beloved daughter into a whore and used her to kill him.
